About This Program

Independent Living supports people to live in their own home while receiving regular, scheduled support.

Individuals may live on their own or with a roommate, often in apartment settings within the community. Staff are not present at all times, but visit regularly to provide support with daily living and help maintain stability.

This program offers a balance. You have your own space and routine, with support available to help you stay safe, confident, and connected.

Who This Program Supports

This program supports individuals who are able to live semi-independently but still benefit from regular support.

It is a good fit for people who:

  • can manage some daily tasks on their own
  • want more independence in their living environment
  • feel comfortable living without full-time staff present
  • want support with specific skills or routines
  • are ready to build on their independence over time

What Support Can Look Like

Support is scheduled and focused on the areas where it is most helpful.

It may include:

  • help with cooking and meal planning
  • support with cleaning, laundry, and routines
  • budgeting and managing money
  • reminders or assistance with medication
  • support attending appointments
  • building daily living skills
  • problem solving and decision making
  • support connecting with community activities

Staff check in regularly, but individuals are responsible for parts of their daily life.

Our Approach

We plan support with you, not for you.

Each person has a plan that reflects their goals, needs, strengths, and the kind of life they want to build. This includes practical things like living skills, as well as relationships, routines, and community involvement.

Support is designed to build independence over time. We respect your choices, your privacy, and your right to make decisions about your life.

We stay connected, check in regularly, and adjust support as your needs change.

Program Details

Support is provided at set times based on your needs and goals. This might include daily, weekly, or a few times per week visits.

Schedules are flexible and can change as your needs change.

You live either in your own home, or in an apartment provided by TCS, either on your own or with a roommate. Support is built around your routines and preferences.

We respect each person’s home, privacy, and independence, while also providing regular support to help ensure their wellbeing and the safety of the living environment.

This program is designed for people who can manage parts of daily life on their own, with support in specific areas. Staff are not there all the time, but are available during scheduled visits to help you stay on track.

A key part of this program is building confidence and independence. Support focuses on helping you learn and practice skills so you can take on more over time, at your own pace.

Support includes staying connected to your community—whether that’s attending appointments, participating in activities, or building relationships.

If you think Independent Living could be a good fit, the first step is to connect with your Community Living BC (CLBC) facilitator. They can talk with you about your goals and help determine if this program is the right option.

You can also reach out to TCS directly to learn more about how the program works and what support might look like for you. We’re happy to answer questions and help you explore your options.

From there, we’ll work with you to understand your needs, preferences, and goals, and begin planning support that fits your life.
