About This Program
Children and Youth programs at TCS support young people and their families through services provided in partnership with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. We offer care in home-like settings where youth can feel safe, supported, and connected. This includes staffed youth homes for daily living support, as well as a respite home for children with higher medical needs. Our services continue to grow and adapt based on what young people and families need.
Who This Program Supports
This program supports children and youth who may need a stable and supportive place to live outside of their family home, or short-term care to give families time to rest and recharge.
Some young people may need extra support with daily routines, safety, or emotional wellbeing. Others benefit from consistency and structure during times of change or uncertainty. As youth get older, we also support them in building the skills and confidence needed to move into adulthood, including adult services as necessary.
What Support Can Look Like
Support is built into everyday life and may include:
- Help with daily routines like meals, hygiene, and getting ready for the day
- Support with school attendance and participation
- Emotional support and building healthy relationships
- Opportunities to take part in community activities and recreation
- Support with communication and problem-solving
- Building life skills like cooking, budgeting, and self-care
- Assistance with medications, medical appointments, and ongoing health needs
- Specialized care for children with more complex medical needs
- Gradual preparation for the transition to adulthood
Our Approach
We take time to get to know each young person and what matters to them. Support is shaped around their needs, strengths and goals, and adjusts as they grow and change.
Our focus is on creating environments that feel safe, consistent, and respectful. We work collaboratively with families and guardians, MCFD workers, and medical professionals to ensure each young person receives well-rounded, coordinated support.
Every step is guided by choice, dignity, and a belief in each person’s ability to grow and move forward at their own pace.
